HOUSTON (May 8, 2024) - Houston Dynamo 2 sign forward Jordy Burbano for the 2024 and 2025 MLS NEXT Pro seasons.
“We are excited to welcome Jordy to Houston. He is a dynamic attacking player who adds pace and goal contributions to our roster,” Dynamo Assistant General Manager, Nick Kowba said. “We have one of MLS NEXT Pro’s greatest success stories in Micael, who is now a regular starter for our first team and an impact player in MLS. As we continue to build our Dynamo 2 roster, we will look to add similar international talents with the potential to impact our first team. We are excited for Jordy’s integration into our club and the bright future ahead of him.”
The 20-year-old winger joins Dynamo 2 from El National in his native Ecuador. Burbano arrived in Houston earlier this week and will be available for selection for Houston’s match against Real Monarchs later today in Utah.
Burbano made his professional debut earlier this year on March 3 when he earned a start against Universidad Catolica in the Ecuadorian first division. He logged a 90-minute shift in his professional debut and made three consecutive starts for El Nacional. The attacker made six appearances for the team at the senior level. Burbano scored his first professional goal four minutes into his appearance against SD Aucas on March 20.
Burbano has gained valuable experience at the international level during his time with El Nacional. The Guayaquil, Ecuador native was on the roster for El Nacional’s two-game series against Paraguayan club Trinidense in the second round of the 2024 Copa Libertadores in February.
