Juneteenth

  • Children from the Forge for Families participated in a 1-hour clinic at Houston Sports Park and then had the opportunity to learn about the importance of Juneteenth from members of Juneteenth USA.

Women in Sports

  • Female employees from Dynamo and Dash, The Houston Rockers and the Houston Texans joined female students from various HISD High Schools to learn about careers in sports and what it means to be a woman working in sports.

Careers in Sports

  • Over 50 College students from TSU, UH and Rice were able to hear from multiple employees working for the Dynamo and Dash and learn what it takes to be successful in the sports industry and the paths they took to launch their careers in sports.

Healthy Eating

  • Kids from both 2 Boys and Girls clubs had the opportunity to take part in a small soccer clinic and then learn about healthy eating habits from the experts at Salad-n-Go. The Boys and Girls Club members had the chance to then prepare their own healthy salads to eat.

Hispanic Heritage

  • 50 Kids from YES Prep were able to take a behind the scenes tour of Shell Energy Stadium.  After the tour students visited HDFC HQ to hear from Hispanic Leaders in the Houston Community.  These individuals shared insights on what being Hispanic means to them and how they celebrate their individual cultures and ways students can help to support the Hispanic community.

Mental Health

  • Students from Galena Park Middle School attend a special Lunch and Learn focused around Mental Health. Volunteers from NAMI Houston met with the students to talk about how to manage emotions, signs to look for in friends and family members who may need help and ways to ask for help.
