Houston Dynamo 2 opened a two-game road trip with a 2-0 victory over LAFC2 at Titan Stadium earlier today.
Midfielder Diego Gonzalez broke the deadlock in the 57th minute after an LAFC2 turnover gave Dynamo Dos a chance in transition. Midfielder Charles Auguste found Gonzalez making a run into the final third. Gonzalez timed the shot perfectly as the LAFC2 goalkeeper came off his line. The Houston Dynamo Academy product scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season.
Forward Papa N’Doye scored the second goal of the match in the 74th minute of the game. Defender Isaiah LeFlore split the LAFC2 defense at the near post to get the ball to N’Doye, who was standing unmarked on the far post. The goal was N’Doye’s fourth goal of the season and the first since scoring in a 4-1 victory over Sporting KC II in Kansas in April.
Dynamo 2’s first attempt of the night came in the 19th minute when forward Yair Gonzalez took a shot from outside of the 18-yard box. Three minutes later, Gonzalez had another attempt on target that forced a save from LAFC2 goalkeeper Jassem Koleilat.
Forward Zeke Soto nearly scored his first professional goal in the 38th of the match. The Houston Dynamo Academy product took the shot from the center of the 18-yard box and just missed over the crossbar.
Coming out of the half N’Doye almost tallied the opening goal of the match after he took a shot to the right side of the goal in the 51st minute, forcing the LAFC2 goalkeeper to make the save. Four minutes later, in the 55th minute, N’Doye once again found space between the LAFC2 defense to take a shot.
N’Doye and forward Joe Farouz nearly combined for goal in the 73rd minute of the match. Before the Dynamo Dos duo was able to convert on the opportunity, the LAFC2 defense was able to clear the danger inside the box.
