Houston Dynamo 2 travel to the state capital this Friday to face Austin FC II for the third time this season. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT at Parmer Field and fans can follow the action live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
Friday’s match marks the final meeting in the regular season between the sides following their most recent matchup on July 11. Houston earned a 2-0 victory at home in July with goals from forward David Garcia and defender Femi Awodesu.
Dynamo 2 is coming off a 2-2 home draw against Ventura County FC on Sunday evening behind a brace from Dynamo Academy product and team captain Diego Gonzalez. The visiting team won the penalty shootout to claim the extra point. Gonzalez got Houston on the board first with a goal from the penalty spot in the 15th minute and secured a brace in the 45th minute, capitalizing on a defensive mistake by Ventura County’s backline. The midfielder has now scored four goals this season and continues to lead Dynamo 2 and MLS NEXT Pro with nine assists and 70 key passes.
Friday’s fixture will mark the return of goalkeeper Xavier Valdez and midfielder Sebastian Rodriguez from international duty. Both Dynamo Academy products were called up this past week to their respective national team, with Valdez representing the Dominican Republic in the 2023-2025 Concacaf Nations League and Rodriguez representing the U-18 Mexican National Team in the Slovenia Nations Cup.
Austin II enters Friday’s match in 11th place in the Western Conference with 31 points and a record of 6-8-10 (WLD). They’ve won two out of their last five games and have kicked off this month with back-to-back losses against St. Louis City 2 and Minnesota United FC 2. The offense is led by forward CJ Fodrey with eight goals and four assists.
