AUSTIN (Sept. 13, 2024) – Houston Dynamo 2 fell 3-1 on the road to Austin FC II at Parmer Field earlier this evening. Houston played the rest of the second half with 10 men after defender Isaac Mwakutuya received a straight red for a Last Man foul.

Austin took the lead in the fifth minute after Micah Burton finished with a header towards the left side of the goal following a cross from Jimmy Farkarlun. Alonso Ramirez then doubled Austin’s lead from the penalty spot in the 56th minute.

The third goal of the match came in the 63rd minute after Ervin Torres found Burton for a tap-in volley inside the box for his second goal of the night.

Houston pulled one back in the first minute of stoppage time with a wonderful strike from midfielder Lukas Bruegmann. Forward Ousmane Sylla found the 15-year-old at the top of the box, where he set himself up and placed the ball perfectly towards the net's right side. The goal marked Bruegmann’s first career goal.

Houston generated their first attacking opportunity in the 10th minute with midfielder Mattheo Dimareli attempting to find forward Stephen Annor inside the box. The 15-year-old did well in freeing himself up and playing a low-driven ball to Annor at the far post before Austin’s backline cleared it for a corner.

Goalkeeper Xavier Valdez was called into action in the 28th minute for a clean save following a curling free kick from Anthony Garcia. Valdez finished the night with three saves.

Annor forced a save from Austin’s goalkeeper Aaron Cervantes in the 46th minute following a right-footed shot towards the bottom corner.

Defensively, Sylla led the team with seven duels won while Homegrown defender Kieran Sargeant finished the night with five duels won.

The team will return to SaberCats Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 22 to host Colorado Rapids 2.
