In one week, the National Women’s Soccer League will host the 2024 NWSL Draft, presented by Ally.
The Draft is held every year so teams can add fresh, new talent to their respective rosters. Many eligible players register for the Draft, but only 56 will be selected by the 14 teams in the league.
Who is eligible for the NWSL Draft?
- An individual who is a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or a foreign national who is currently or was enrolled at a university in the United States during the 2023-24 academic year; or
- An individual who has exhausted, lost, or renounced their remaining collegiate eligibility during the 2023 calendar year, including high school graduates choosing to forego; and
- Being at least 18 years old on or before December 31, 2023; and
- Not being under a current professional contract, nor have previously signed a contract to play soccer professionally
How does the NWSL Draft work?
There will be four rounds with 14 selections in each round. During the first round, every team has a five-minute window to reveal their selection. In rounds 2-4, teams are given a three-minute timeframe to make their picks.
Additionally, teams have the option to request up to three time-outs throughout the draft for extended deliberation, clarification of rules, or trade negotiations. Regardless of the round, each time-out taken lasts for three minutes.

The Houston Dash has four picks in the 2024 NWSL Draft:

- Round 3, Pick 36
- Round 3, Pick 40
- Round 4, Pick 47
How do I watch the NWSL Draft?
The 2024 NWSL Draft presented by Ally is on Friday, January 12 at 7 p.m. CT, and will be held during the United Soccer Coaches Convention at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Live coverage of the 2024 NWSL Draft, presented by Ally, will begin on ION Television at 7 p.m. CT and continue until 9 p.m. CT, at which time the remainder of the draft will be available on ION Plus.
