Kyah Simon will join the club for the first time this season when she takes the field for training this afternoon, the club announced today.
Simon returned to the United States this week after helping Australia secure a berth for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup with a runner-up finish at the 2018 AFC Asian Women's Cup in Jordan.
Simon will also be available for selection on Saturday when Houston hosts Crystal Dunn, Lynn Williams and the North Carolina Courage at 2:30 p.m. for the Lifetime NWSL Game of the Week. This would be Simon's first NWSL appearance since the 2016 season where she finished with one goal and one assist in 17 appearances for the Boston Breakers.
The 26-year-old was selected by Houston with the sixth pick in the NWSL Dispersal Draft on Jan. 30. The Australian international spent the winter playing in her home country with Melbourne City FC where she scored two goals in 14 appearances and won the 2018 W-League Grand Final with Melbourne City on Feb. 18.
In a corresponding move, the club waived MF Allison Wetherington. The midfielder joined the club as a discovery player on Jan. 31.
