The Houston Dash acquired midfielder Christine Nairn from the Orlando Pride in exchange for one 2019 international roster spot and the club’s natural third- and fourth-round picks in the 2020 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) College Draft, the clubs announced today.
Nairn, 28, has made 132 appearances in the NWSL and 49 appearances in the Australian W-League, playing a total of 14,609 minutes since her first appearance in 2013. She has scored a total of thirty goals in her career and was a member of the Washington Spirit in 2016 when they were NWSL runner-ups.
“Christine Nairn is a fantastic addition to the Dash and is going to play an important role this season, she brings a wealth of experience with more than 100 NWSL appearances and will provide great options in midfield,” said Houston Dash Head Coach James Clarkson.
Nairn has made two international appearances for the United States women's national soccer team, scoring the game winning goal in a friendly against Canada on July 22, 2009. Prior to these appearances she played for the US U-16, U-17, U-18, and U-20 national teams. She also was a part of the 2010 CONCACAF U-20 team that defeated Mexico 1-0 in the final, winning the tournament for the US.
