Houston Dash forward Rachel Daly has been called up by the England Football Association for the upcoming February FIFA International window, the federation announced today.
England will face Canada to open the 2022 international calendar on February 17 at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium for the Arnold Clark Cup. Daly will face off against three of her Dash teammates, Allysha Chapman, Sophie Schmidt and Nichelle Prince, who are on the Candian Women’s National Team. The Lionesses will then take on Spain for the second match of the Arnold Clark Cup on February 20 and close out the three-game tournament against Germany on February 23.
Daly joined the England during the November FIFA International Window for the Lionesses two World cup qualifying matches against Austria and Latvia. On Nov. 27 against Austria, The Harrogate, United Kingdom native earned the start in the Lionesses 1-0 win. Three days later, on Nov. 30, Daly was available off the bench in England’s 20-0 win over Latvia. Daly has 43 senior team caps and seven international goals after making her debut for England in April of 2016.
Daly spent a few days in Houston for the Dash’s preseason training camp, which began on February 1. Entering her seventh year in the NWSL, Daly has been an integral part of Dash head coach James Clarkson’s attack. Daly, led the team in scoring during the 2021 NWSL season, scoring 9 goals in 15 games. Once the conclusion of the FIFA international window, Daly will return to the Dash and continue preparing for the NWSL Challenge Cup and NWSL Regular season.
