Rachel Daly and Kristie Mewis were named to the NWSL Team of the Month, presented by Cutter © Insect Repellent, for the month of May the league announced today.
Daly and Mewis were selected by the NWSL Media Association after leading Houston to three victories and two draws in seven games last month. Daly and Mewis combined for six goals as Houston vaulted up the NWSL table in May, ending the month just three points out of a playoff spot.
This is the first Team of the Month recognition for Mewis and the second honor for Daly, who was named to the March Team of the Month earlier this season.
Mewis will miss the remainder of the season with a left knee sprain and Daly will return to Houston after a 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup qualifier with England in Moscow versus Russia. Daly will join Houston on June 22 as the Dash host the reigning NWSL champion Portland Thorns FC at BBVA Compass Stadium.
