Houston Dash goalkeeper Jane Campbell and midfielder Kristie Mewis were named to the U.S. Women’s National Teamroster by head coach Vlatko Andonovski for the 2021 WNT Summer Series pres. by AT&T 5G, U.S. Soccer announced today. Campbell and Mewis will join the USWNT after Houston’s game against Kansas City NWSL on June 6.
The U.S. Women’s National Team will face Portugal at 7:30 p.m. CT on June 10 at BBVA Stadium. The four-time FIFA Women’s World Cup championsclose their trip to Houston against Jamaica at 9 p.m. CT on June 13. Tickets for both matches and all Summer Series games hosted at BBVA Stadium will go on sale to the public on Saturday, May 29 at 10 a.m. CT through USSoccer.com.
The Summer Series represents the final opportunities for fans to watch the U.S. Women’s National Team in Texas prior to their departure for Japan in July. The USWNT travel to the Olympic Games in search of their fifth gold medal in the tournament and first since the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Campbell has earned five caps with the U.S. Women’s National Team, including a clean sheet in the team’s 6-0 victory over Argentina to capture the 2021 SheBelieves Cup trophy. It was the Dash goalkeeper’s second clean sheet with the national team, both of which have come this year. The goalkeeper made her senior international debut at BBVA Stadium in Houston during a 5-1 USWNT victory over Russia in April 2017.
Mewis returned to the national team last November, earning her first call-up in seven years and finished with a goal against the Netherlands on Nov. 27. The Boston native extended her scoring streak in the first USWNT friendly of the year against Colombia on Jan. 18. and scored her third goal since November inthe final SheBelieves Cup match against Argentina on Feb. 25. Mewis has scored four goals and tallied five assists in 22 appearances with the senior team.
