As part of the upcoming Dynamo Charities Weekend, we’re looking at the impact that Dynamo Charities has had on our community in recent years through the lens of their four pillars. This is Part One: Food Insecurities.
According to the Houston Food Bank, one out of every seven Texans is food insecure – meaning up to one million people in southeast Texas may not know where their next meal is. It’s for this reason that tackling food insecurity in our city is one of Dynamo Charities’ four pillars, and one which leads the charge for many of the foundation’s events year in and year out.
Helping in this cause this season especially have been two corporate partners: Kroger and Dawn. Each company has committed to donate money to Dynamo Charities for each corner and free kick the Dynamo earn throughout the 2022 Season, with the money being donated to the Houston Food Bank and Kids Meals Houston. So far, Dawn has helped donate 9,200 meals through this Free Kicks 4 Free Meals program.
The Houston Food Bank and Kids Meals Houston are two organizations have been crucial to Dynamo Charities’ work in this area in previous years, collaborating with the organization on multiple events both at PNC Stadium and in their respective facilities. Most notably, Houston Food Bank was part of the 2022 HDFC All-Staff Volunteer Day, with Kids Meals Houston being selected as the beneficiary and volunteer site for the 2022 Dynamo Charities Cup.
Throughout events across the season and auctions like the Dynamo Charities Weekend Auction, Dynamo Charities aims to impact our community in a positive manner through the power of sport.
