Entertainment details announced for Houston Dash playoff opener

Details regarding the match-day entertainment lineup for the Houston Dash’s first-ever playoff game were announced today.

The Dash host the Kansas City Current on Sunday at 4 p.m. CDT in the quarterfinals of the 2022 NWSL Playoffs powered by Shell Energy. Tickets for the match start at just $7 and are available at HoustonDash.com, and METRO will offer free rides to and from PNC Stadium on all METRORail lines Sunday with a valid Dash playoff game ticket. The first 10,000 fans at Sunday’s match will receive a Houston Dash rally towel courtesy of Shell Energy.

Headlining the day’s festivities are a trio of performances from some of the most recognizable names on the Houston music scene. Kam Franklin, the lead singer for The Suffers, will perform the national anthem prior to kickoff, and DJ Gracie Chavez will perform live on the concourse during the build-up to game time. At halftime, the drumline from Texas Southern University’s Ocean of Soul marching band will keep the energy going with an on-field performance.

In addition, one of the biggest names in Houston sports history will be signing autographs on the concourse before kickoff. WNBA and Houston Comets legend Sheryl Swoopes will make a special appearance at PNC Autograph Alley from 3:15-3:45 p.m. leading up to the start of the match and then will welcome the teams onto the field with the Shell Energy Countdown to Kickoff.

Before kickoff, Dash owner Ted Segal will present a check to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center on behalf of all Dash and Houston Dynamo FC fans. The Club has committed to donate $1 from every single-game ticket purchased online to support cancer research and programs. Fans also fundraised by rounding up their purchases to the nearest dollar at the Team Store. The final donation amount will be determined on the morning of the match, but is expected to exceed $75,000.

Family-friendly activities will be located in Diesel’s Corner outside Section 222, featuring face painting, balloon artists and appearances by Diesel, the team’s mascot.

The Team Store at PNC Stadium will open at Noon on Sunday, giving fans four hours to gear up before kickoff. Prior to matchday, gear is available at the ground floor of the George R. Brown Convention Center, open 1 -6 PM, Wednesday through Friday.
