Houston Dash forward Cece Kizer and defender Erin Simon were selected by Racing Louisville FC earlier this evening in the 2020 Expansion Draft. Racing Louisville FC will begin play as the NWSL’s 10th team when the 2021 season kicks off.

Kizer was drafted by the Dash with the 13th overall pick in the 2019 NWSL College Draft and saw 364 minutes on the field as a rookie, tallying two starts in 16 appearances last season. The 23-year-old made six appearances in the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup before joining Sweden’s Kolbotn IL on loan for the remainder of the year.

Simon joined Houston in January after spending the 2019 season with English side West Ham United. The New Jersey native started in three of six appearances in Houston’s successful 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup run.

The Dash posted a 6-3-2 record in all competitions last season and captured the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup championship in late July. Head coach James Clarkson heads into his third season on the Dash sideline in 2021 and will look to build on his side’s success this year.
