Five Houston Dash players were called up by their respective national teams today to compete in international friendly matches in June. MF Morgan Brian (U.S. Women’s National Team), FW Janine Beckie and D Allysha Chapman (Canadian National Team), and MF Andressa and D Poliana (Brazilian National Team) were included in their national team rosters which were released today.
Brian and the USWNT will face Japan at 8 p.m. CDT on Thursday, June 2 in suburban Denver, Colo. and then travel to Cleveland for the second leg on June 5. The Dash midfielder has made 51 appearances for the senior national team and scored four goals, and received the Golden Ball as the most outstanding player at the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament in January. Brian has started three games for the Dash this season and is scheduled to make her first start at BBVA Compass Stadium this Friday as Houston hosts the Orlando Pride.
Beckie and Chapman will face Andressa and Poliana in a rematch of the Algarve Cup final on June 4 in Toronto and June 7 in Ottawa. Beckie scored the game-winning goal in the 67th minute to secure Canada’s first championship of the annual eight-team exhibition tournament.
Prior to reporting for national team duty the Dash players will face Alex Morgan and the Orlando Pride at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at BBVA Compass Stadium.
