Houston Dash forward Michelle Alozie was named to the Nigerian Women’s National Team by head coach Randy Waldrum for a training camp this month, the federation announced earlier this week.
The camp begins on Nov. 22 and will serve as preparation for the upcoming Cote D’ivoire fixture as part of the Africa Women’s Championship in 2022.
The American-born Nigerian player was first called up to the Nigerian WNT earlier this summer for the U.S. Soccer Summer Series and made her international debut at PNC Stadium against Jamaica. Three days later against Portugal, Alozie scored her first international goal for the Super Falcons.
Alozie joined the Dash during the 2021 preseason and signed as a National Team Replacement Player in July. She finished with four appearances during the 2021 regular season. Prior to Houston, Alozie played for BIIK Kazygurt, the 13-time national champion of Kazakhstan in 2020. In college, Alozie played three years at Yale and transferred to Tennessee as a graduate student in 2019.
