Houston Dash forward Rachel Daly and midfielder Shea Groom were named to the WICC Body Armor Golden XI earlier today.
The award was voted on by the fans, and both Daly and Groom made their case to be listed on this Golden XI.
Groom led the tournament with most goals, scoring two in the semifinal match against the Portland Thorns and one in third place match against FC Barcelona.
Daly played the full 90 in both matches, covering ground and making an impact both offensively and defensively throughout the tournament. She assisted both of Groom’s goals in the first match and scored in the penalty shootout against Portland. The forward also helped create an own goal from FC Barcelona with her set piece play in the third-place match.
The Houston Dash return to BBVA Stadium on Sunday, Aug. 29 to host Racing Louisville. This is the first meeting between both teams in Houston and the second meeting of the regular season.
