The 2018-2019 W-League season kicked off this past weekend and four of five Dash players on loan in Australia saw action with their teams.
Up first, Sofia Huerta and Sydney FC opened their 2018 campaign with a 3-0 victory over Western Sydney Wanderers on Thursday night. Huerta played the full 90 minutes during which she created two chances and forced a save with a shot from outside the box in the 63rd minute of the first Sydney Derby of the year.
Up next, Clare Polkinghorne and Brisbane Roar earned a point in their opening match with a 1-1 draw against Perth Glory on Saturday night. The defender and team captain played the full game for her hometown club.
Kyah Simon did not dress for Melbourne City FC’s opening matching against Canberra United on Saturday night. Melbourne lost 2-0 to Canberra.
Rounding out the weekend, Amber Brooks and Veronica Latsko joined Adelaide United for the team’s first game of the year. Both players went the full 90 minutes in the team’s 0-0 draw against Melbourne Victory. Latsko came out with a quick start after her cross resulted in a corner kick in the 9th minute.
