The Houston Dash acquired defender Ally Haran off waivers, the club announced today. Haran joins Houston from spending the beginning of the 2019 season with the North Carolina Courage. She was waived by the Courage on July 18.
Haran began her professional career as the 25th overall pick of the 2018 NWSL Draft by the Seattle Reign. The defender spent four years at Wake Forest University, starting in 66 games. She played a total of 6,101 minutes for the Demon Deacons and contributed to a backline that had 11 shutouts during her senior season. She was named team captain during her junior and senior seasons.
Haran tallied four goals and three assists on the attacking end of the field during her college career. As a freshman, Haran participated with the United States U-19 National Team and at two U-20 National Team camps.
After graduating, the Canadian-American signed a contract with UMF Selfoss, a professional team in the top league in Iceland. She played every minute of 19 games with the team during the 2018 season. Haran had two goals that season, including the difference maker in a 1-0 win against FH Hafnarfjordur on August 9.
Up next, the Dash will play Reign FC for the third time this season on Friday night at 6 p.m. CDT at BBVA Stadium. Tickets for the match start at $15 and are available at HoustonDashSoccer.com.
