HOUSTON (April 23, 2024) – The Houston Dash completed the transfer of defender Tarciane from Corinthians for an undisclosed fee, both teams announced today. The 20-year-old joins the Dash through the 2026 season plus a mutual option for 2027. The transfer is pending receipt of her P-1 visa and international transfer certificate.
“Tarciane is a special young talent with potential to be one of the best in the world. At just 20 years old, she is a physically imposing, dominant defender, who has proven to be able to compete against the top attackers across the globe and impose her quality. From the U-20 World Cup to today, her play, poise and mentality has impressed us,” Dash General Manager Alex Singer said. “Investing in players like Tarciane is a key component to how we build our roster. We are confident that she will have a significant impact on our club over the next years and develop as a player under our infrastructure. We are thrilled she chose to continue her journey in Houston, and we are excited to see her growth and impact both to our club and the league.”
The 20-year-old has won three senior titles with Corinthians, lifting the domestic title in back-to-back campaigns (2022-2023) and she also won the 2023 Conmebol Copa Libertadores Femenina. She has made 23 appearances for the club in league play and has scored four goals as a defender.
“I'm very happy to play in Houston, I am motivated and prepared for this new challenge in my career,” Tarciane said. “Playing in the NWSL is a dream come true. This is one of the best leagues in the world plus a country with so much tradition in women's soccer. It's such a fantastic opportunity and I'll do my best to represent this club on-and-off the field.”
Tarciane began her professional career with Fluminense and is a product of their youth program. She spent two years in Rio de Janeiro prior to joining Corinthians in 2021.
Internationally, Tarciane recently represented Brazil at the 2024 SheBelieves Cup where they defeated Japan in penalty kicks to win third place. During the tournament, she scored three goals. The defender also reached the final of the 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup with Brazil. She has represented Brazil at the U-17 and U-20 levels, winning the South American U-20 championship in 2022. At the 2022 U-20 FIFA World Cup in Costa Rica, Tarciane was awarded with the Bronze Ball, scoring three goals during the tournament, leading Brazil to a third-place finish, their best finish ever in the competition.
Tarciane is the 11th player signed by Singer for the 2024 campaign. The team recently announced the trade for defender Paige Nielsen and arrival of Swiss international forward Ramona Bachmann. Houston also acquired Swedish international Elin Rubensson prior to the start of the 2024 season.
