The Houston Dash have acquired midfielder Elizabeth Eddy in a trade with NJ/NY Gotham FC for Houston’s 2023 NWSL Draft natural fourth round pick, the clubs announced today.
Eddy, who was on loan with Newcastle Jets from the Australian A-League, will join the Dash this week and begin training with the team in preparation of the NWSL Challenge Cup which starts on March 20 against Chicago Red Stars at PNC Stadium.
The Costa Mesa, Calif. Native was loaned to Newcastle at the beginning of this year from Gotham FC for the duration of the NWSL offseason. While with the Jets, Eddy started in 13 matches and scored two goals.
Eddy was drafted in 2015 by Sky Blue FC, (now Gotham FC) but signed with the Western New York Flash (now North Carolina Courage) later that year. She appeared in 32 games for both the Flash and Courage before being traded to Gotham in 2019. The midfielder finished with 43 games and two assists for Gotham FC.
Collegiately, Eddy was a dual-sport athlete for the University of Southern California where she played soccer and lacrosse. Eddy finished her college soccer career with 16 goals and nine assists and started 69 games out of her 76 total appearances.
