The Houston Dash have acquired Canadian midfielder Kaylyn Kyle from the Boston Breakers in exchange for defender Nikki Washington, the club announced today. Kyle is allocated by the Canada Soccer Association.

Kyle, 25, started the first two games of the 2014 NWSL season for the Breakers, playing 155 minutes. Boston acquired Kyle last September after she spent the 2013 season with Seattle Reign FC, starting 19 of the team’s 22 games and scoring three goals.

“Kaylyn is clearly going to make our team better. She has all the qualities I’m looking for in a central midfield player,” head coach Randy Waldrum said. “She has great vision, she’s technical and composed with the ball, she's tough and brings a physical presence to our midfield. She has a wealth of experience that our young team needs. I’m really excited to have Kaylyn become part of the Dash family.”

The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, native has earned 79 caps for the Canada Women’s National Team and has scored five goals. Kyle, who made her senior team debut at age 19, played in all six matches for Canada as they won the bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics and started all three of their matches in the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Washington, 25, was acquired by the Dash via a trade with Portland Thorns FC at the 2014 NWSL College Draft. The midfielder-turned-defender started each of the Dash’s first three games at left back.

The Dash return home to BBVA Compass Stadium this Saturday, May 3, at 7 p.m. CT against FC Kansas City. Tickets are still available by visiting www.HoustonDashSoccer.com/tickets or calling 713-276-GOAL.
