The Houston Dash have announced their 18-player roster for the 2014 National Women’s Soccer League season.
The team, entering its inaugural season, will be led by head coach Randy Waldrum. Waldrum joined the Dash in January after spending 15 years as head coach of the Notre Dame women’s soccer program. Waldrum compiled a _ record and won two national championships at the helm of the Fighting Irish. Waldrum will be supported by assistant coach Lee Cullip and goalkeepers coach Steve Branz.
The Dash roster has been constructed through national team allocations, the 2014 NWSL Expansion Draft and the NWSL College Draft. Expansion draft picks Brittany Bock and Becky Edwards figure to be in central midfield for Waldrum’s team. Forward Kealia Ohai, second overall pick in the college draft, led the team with five goals and five assists during a six-game preseason. U.S. Women National Team defenders Whitney Engen and Meghan Klingenberg are currently with Swedish side Tyresö FF, and will join the Dash at the conclusion of Tyresö’s UEFA Women’s Champions League run.
