The Houston Dash released their preseason roster prior to hitting the field for the first time today in preparation for the 2017 National Women’s Soccer League season.
The roster includes 16 currently contracted players, four federation players and two of the team’s 2017 NWSL College Draft picks. Additionally, three non-contract invitees will join the club for the preseason.
Houston will train at Houston Sports Park through Friday before traveling to Plano, Texas on Saturday for their first preseason scrimmage of the year against Baylor University at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 19 at Prestonwood Lions Stadium.
The Dash are led by Kealia Ohai, who scored a career-best 11 goals last season, along with USWNT midfielder Morgan Brian, and feature two bronze medalists from the 2016 Olympic in forwards Janine Beckie and Nichelle Prince. Houston features one of the most diverse rosters in the league with international players from Australia, Brazil, Canada, England, Ireland, Mexico and South Africa.
The Dash open the 2017 season against the Chicago Red Stars at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 15. Tickets for that game are now on sale. For more information, visit HoustonDashSoccer.com/2017 or call 713-276-GOAL.
