The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announced the full calendar for the 2022 NWSL Challenge Cup earlier today, which includes six group games for the Houston Dash. This is the beginning of the competitive year for the team and their fourth season under head coach James Clarkson.
The Dash will compete in the Central Region against the Chicago Red Stars, Kansas City Current and Racing Louisville FC. The groups will compete in double round-robin matches ahead of the semifinal round and the NWSL Challenge Cup Final on Saturday, May 7. Details regarding broadcast schedule for the tournament are forthcoming.
Houston opens the Challenge Cup at home at 6 p.m. CT on Sunday March 20 at PNC Stadium. The Dash travel to Louisville five days later and return to PNC Stadium on Wednesday, March 30 to host Kansas City. The Dash will navigate back-to-back road trips beginning with a trip to Chicago at 7 p.m. CT. On Saturday, April 2 at SeatGeek Stadium. The Dash close group play at 6 p.m. CT on Sunday, April 24 at PNC Stadium against Racing Louisville.
The semifinals of the tournament are scheduled for Wednesday, May 4, followed by the final three days later. The additional regional groups include the East Region and West Region. The East Region includes NJ/NY Gotham FC, the North Carolina Courage, Orlando Pride and the Washington Spirit. The West Region includes OL Reign, Portland Thorns FC and the two West Coast expansion teams in San Diego Wave FC and Angel City FC.
Houston Dash 365 Members will receive their seats for the Chicago match as their first match of their 2022 Dash 265 Membership. Members will have until March 4 to purchase their seating locations for Games 2 & 3. Challenge Cup tickets will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, Feb. 15
