The Houston Dash claimed defender Meghan Cox on waivers, the club announced today.
The 22-year-old began the season with Portland Thorns FC, where she appeared in nine games this season. Cox was waived by Portland on Aug. 24.
The University of Virginia product scored 11 goals and tallied 10 assists in 67 matches for the Cavaliers over three seasons. Cox began her collegiate career at James Madison University, where she featured in 21 games.
Cox will join the Dash prior to Sunday’s match at Toyota Stadium as Houston hosts Seattle Reign FC in their first match since Hurricane Harvey. Fans in Dallas-Fort Worth can purchase tickets at FCDallas.com/Tickets or call 888-FCD-GOAL. Proceeds from Sunday’s match will benefit the American Red Cross Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.
Dash fans and season ticket members with tickets to the originally-scheduled game may apply those tickets to any remaining Dash home game this season.
