The Houston Dash defeated Texas A&M 3-0 this afternoon at Ellis Field in a preseason match.
Forward **Veronica Latsko** scored the game-winning goal off a second ball inside the box. Forward **Kealia Ohai**’s corner kick was kept in-play by midfielder **Sophie Schmidt** at the far post and her header found Latsko for the first goal of the game.
Ohai doubled Houston’s lead two minutes later after she dribbled into the box and beat the Aggie goalkeeper at the near post with a low shot from a tight angle.
Houston scored off a corner kick again in the 65th minute. Midfielder **Christine Nairn** found forward **Nichelle Prince** inside the box, the Canadian international controlled the ball and found **Rachel Daly** who finished from short range.
Midfielder **Haley Hanson** generated Houston’s first threat of the game after an Aggie defender attempted to clear a cross from defender **Ari Romero**. The rebound fell to Hanson who forced a save with a shot near the penalty spot in the ninth minute.
Nairn was inches away from her own tally in the 41st minute with a trademark effort from distance that skipped past the crossbar.
Houston was awarded a penalty kick in the 59th minute after Prince was fouled inside the box. Daly’s penalty kick just missed the bottom corner of the right post.
The Dash return to Houston Sports Park on Monday morning to continue their preparation for their sixth NWSL campaign. Houston open the 2019 NWSL regular season at 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 14 against Megan Rapinoe, Allie Long and Reign FC at BBVA Compass Stadium. Tickets for the match are on sale and start at $15.
