Houston Dash defender Ari Romero was named to the Mexican Women’s National Team roster for two friendlies this week, the federation announced.
Romero joined Mexico on May 20 for the team’s upcoming tour in the U.S. Mexico as they face New Zealand today at 2:00 p.m. in a closed-door scrimmage. The tour ends in New Jersey as Mexico faces the U.S. Women’s National Team at 11:30 a.m. CT on Sunday, May 26 at the Red Bull Arena. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN and Univision Deportes Network.
Romero joined the Dash on March 4 from Valur Reykjavík in Iceland’s Úrvalsdeild kvenna, where she tallied an assist in 17 appearances for the club. The defender has made three appearances for the Dash this season, tallying her first assist in forward Rachel Daly’s game-winning goal against the Utah Royals on May 11.
The defender will return to Houston prior to their first trip to Tacoma, Wash. on June 2 to face Reign FC.
