Ari Romero was named to the Mexican Women’s National Team, the federation announced Tuesday.
Romero will join Mexico on March 31 in Mexico City prior to traveling to Holland for a friendly against the Netherlands on April 5. Four days later Mexico will face PSV Eindhoven in the final match of their two-game trip.
Romero joined the Dash on March 4 from Valur Reykjavík in Iceland’s Úrvalsdeild kvenna, where she tallied an assists in 17 appearances for the club. The former seventh overall pick in the 2014 NWSL Expansion Draft returns to Houston after playing soccer in Australia, Norway and Iceland.
The defender will return to Houston prior to the start of the 2019 NWSL regular season. The Dash kickoff the season at 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 14 against Megan Rapinoe, Allie Long and Reign FC at BBVA Compass Stadium. Tickets for the match are on sale and start at $15.
