The Houston Dash and defender Julia Ashley have agreed to a new two-year contract which runs through 2023, the club announced today.
Ashley, who was acquired via a trade with Racing Louisville FC, will join the Dash later this month ahead of preseason, which begins on February 1 at Houston Sports Park.
As a member of Racing Louisville FC’s inaugural season, Ashely appeared in 15 matches and earned six starts during the 2021 regular season.
The defender was sixth overall pick in the 2019 NWSL College Draft and earned her first NWSL start against Houston on Aug. 29, 2021. The Verona, New Jersey native spent time with OL Reign and overseas in Sweden and Australia from 2019-2020.
The Dash roster now has 23 players under contract for the start of preseason training which begins on February 1.
