Houston Dash forward Kealia Ohai was named to the U.S. Women's National Team preliminary 26-player roster for the Tournament of Nations by head coach Jill Ellis, U.S. Soccer announced earlier today.
The forward has scored four goals and tallied two assists in 13 appearances for Houston this season after returning from a Grade 3 ACL sprain and medial meniscus tear in her left knee suffered in Orlando last July. Ohai’s best game this season came in her return to Orlando, when she scored a goal and won a penalty in a 2-1 come-from-behind win on June 27.
The forward scored 48 seconds into her debut for the USWNT on Oct. 23, 2016 in a 5-1 victory over Switzerland. Ohai has earned three caps at the senior level after representing the U.S. from the U-15 to U-20 level. The forward scored the game-winning goal in the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup final against Japan.
The final roster for the Tournament of Nations will be announced at a later date by U.S. Soccer.
Ohai and the Dash play at Washington this weekend, kicking off at 6 p.m. CDT, then return to BBVA Compass Stadium at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5 to host Christen Press and Utah Royals FC. Tickets for the match start at $19 and are available at HoustonDashSoccer.com
