Houston Dash forward María Sánchez has been called up by the Mexican Women’s National Team for training camp in preparation for two World Cup Qualifying games.
Mexico will face Suriname on February 17 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Three days later Mexico will travel to the Dominican Republic to face Antigua and Barbuda on February 20.
Sánchez has begun her first preseason training with Houston after signing on with the Dash this past offseason. The Idaho native previously spent a month in Houston during a short-term loan from her previous club, UANL Tigres from LigaMX Feminil.
The forward has 39 caps and has scored five goals for the El Tri after making her senior Mexican Women’s National Team debut in 2015 as a 19-year-old. Sánchez was part of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad and the second youngest player on the team.
