The Houston Dash host OL Reign on Wednesday to close a two-game homestand at BBVA Stadium.
The first 1,000 attendees of Wednesday's game will receive a free Rachel Daly bobblehead, presented by MD Anderson. Kickoff for that match is scheduled for 7 p.m. CDT and tickets are available at HoustonDash.com/tickets.
Houston look to build on their 1-0 victory over Racing Louisville on Sunday and earn a share of the top half of the table. Rachel Daly scored for Houston to snap a four-game winless streak. Sunday also featured the return of all six Dash players that competed at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Goalkeeper Jane Campbell was among the players that returned, and she earned her 15th clean sheet with the Dash, the 26-year-old is now tied for seventh most clean sheets in league history.
Wednesday is the rubber match between both teams after Houston claimed a 2-0 victory over OL Reign on July 2. OL Reign defeated the Dash on Aug. 7 at Cheney Stadium and with that victory the team enters Wednesday’s game with three victories in their last four games.
The Dash close the week on the road against Orlando Pride on Sunday, Sunday, Sept. 5.
Here are the three key points ahead of Wednesday’s game:
- DASH NAVIGATE FOUR GAMES IN TWO WEEKS: The Dash navigate one of their most congested blocks of the regular season which includes Wednesday’s match against OL Reign. Houston will have seven games under their belt since their 1-1 draw with NJ/NY Gotham FC on Aug. 1. The marathon will take a two-week break in September for the FIFA Window as Houston begin a three-game road trip at the end of the month. Points at home will be key for Houston as they look to earn their first playoff berth in club history. Their next victory at home will match their record in 2018 for the most victories at BBVA Stadium in a single season with five.
- HOUSTON RETURNS TO NATIONAL TELEVISION: Wednesday’s game is the first of two nationally televised games this week for Houston. The Dash played two nationally televised games in August as part of the 2021 Women’s International Champions Cup and return to CBS Sports Network for the first time since a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Red Stars on May 29. Fans can catch Sunday’s game against the Orlando Pride on CBS.
- OL REIGN TURNAROUND CONTINUES: With Saturday’s victory against the Portland Thorns the OL Reign have won five out of their last six games and enter Saturday’s match in third place. Laura Harvey’s side has won the bulk of their eight games at home and visit Houston with a 2-5-0 record on the road. Wednesday will be the first time since 2019 that Harvey visits BBVA Stadium as a head coach in the NWSL. The England native left the Utah Royals in 2019 to join U.S. Soccer as the head coach of the U-20 program and recently joined the senior team at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
