Houston Dash midfielder Kristie Mewis was named to the Team of the Month for June, the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announced today. The team is voted on by the NWSL Media Association.
This year, the Boston native has earned seven starts in seven appearances, scoring three goals and tallying two assists. Going into her fifth season with Houston, Mewis has tallied 51 starts in 51 appearances, scoring 12 goals and provided nine assists.
Mewis will depart for national team duty after July 7 to represent the U.S. Women’s National Team at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Mewis was named to the 18-player roster on June 23. The USWNT will play two international friendlies against the Mexican Women’s National Team in the Send-Off Series in Connecticut on July 1 (FS1 & TUDN) and July 5 (ESPN) at Pratt & Whitney Stadium ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics this summer.
