The Houston Dash and midfielder Haley Hanson have agreed to a new contract deal, the club announced today.
Hanson was a key member of Houston’s backline last season when she transitioned from playing in the midfield to right back. The 23-year-old played in every regular-season game, earning 20 starts in 23 appearances.
Selected as the seventh overall pick in the 2018 NWSL College Draft by Houston, the Kansas native finished her rookie season with a goal and an assist after making her debut on March 25, 2018 in a draw against Chicago. Hanson earned 15 starts in 19 appearances that season.
The University of Nebraska alumna followed that up by earning her first cap for the U.S. Women’s National Team on April 8, 2018 against Mexico at BBVA Stadium. This year, Hanson expanded her international career after earning the captain’s armband for the U-23 U.S. Women’s National Team when they traveled to England on Aug. 28 to win the Nordic Cup.
Hanson will spend her offseason in Australia on a loan as part of the W-League's Melbourne Victory before rejoining the Dash prior to the start of the 2020 NWSL season.
