The Boston Breakers (3-13-2, 11 points) visit BBVA Compass Stadium for their final meeting of the regular season with the Houston Dash (5-9-4, 19 points) who seek their first series sweep of the year.
After back-to-back losses,the Breakers picked up a point against the Western New York Flash on Wednesday. Kyah Simon scored her first goal of the season and Natasha Dowie scored her second goal in three games. Dowie signed with the Breakers in July and leads the club in scoring with three goals.
The Breakers currently sit at the bottom of the NWSL table. Boston is led by USWNT defender Whitney Engen, who scored one goal and tallied an assist before departing for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Other players to watch include Louise Schillgard, who leads the team in assists with two, and Kristie Mewis, who led the club in scoring last season.
The Dash walked away with a 3-1 victory in the last meeting between the clubs on Aug. 31. Carli Lloyd returned to NWSL action in that match and tallied her first assist of the season on Kealia Ohai’s first-half goal. Ohai finished with two goals and Lloyd scored her second goal of the season with a 35-yard shot that caught the keeper off her line.
Houston leads the all-time series with a record of 4-2-0. Houston has won the previous two meetings and has a 2-0-0 record at BBVA Compass Stadium against the Breakers.
