HOUSTON (March 20, 2024) – Earlier today, the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and LIGA MX Femenil revealed plans for the inaugural NWSL x LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup. A historic collaboration uniting two of the world’s premier women’s soccer leagues.
The tournament will showcase all 14 NWSL clubs, including the Houston Dash, alongside the top six teams from the LIGA MX Femenil Clausura and Apertura tournaments last year Tigres UANL, Club America, Chivas de Guadalajara, Rayadas de Monterrey, Pachuca and Tijuana.
Houston is placed in Group C alongside Kansas City Current, Tigres UANL and Pachuca. The Dash kicks off the tournament on Saturday, July 20 in Kansas City against the Current at 7 p.m. CT.
The NWSL x LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup will be organized into five groups, comprising four groups with three NWSL clubs and one LIGA MX Femenil club, as well as one group featuring two clubs from each league. Each participating club is guaranteed a minimum of three matches.
Scheduled to commence on the weekend of July 19, the 33-match competition will kick off with 30 group stage contests, leading to a four-team semifinal round slated for the week of August 4. The championship match is slated for the weekend of October 25-27. Houston’s group stage schedule can be found below:
