The Houston Dash have acquired defender Riley Smith as a national team replacement, the club announced today.
Smith comes to Houston after playing in the Women’s Premier Soccer League with the ISC Gunners in Issaquah, Washington. The defender helped the Gunners finish their 2017 regular season undefeated at 7-0-3.
At the University of Oregon, the defender finished her four-year career with the school record for minutes played. Smith earned Academic All-Pac 12 honors and helped give the Ducks their lowest goals-against average during her senior season in 2014. The defender led the Ducks her junior and senior seasons, logging a combined 3,214 minutes – the most any field player in her last two seasons.
The Houston Dash will travel this weekend to face Reign FC on Sunday, June 2, at 3:00 p.m. CDT at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, Washington. The game will be streamed live on Yahoo! Sports.
