The Houston Dash completed the transfer of forward Ebony Salmon to Aston Villa F.C. for an undisclosed fee, both clubs announced today.
"We wish Ebony the best as she returns home closer to family and pursues a new opportunity,” Dash general manager, Alex Singer said. “Since her arrival, Ebony played a key role for the team and was influential in us earning our first playoff appearance. As a club, we wanted to make every effort to support her in this step of her journey."
Salmon was acquired by the Dash on June 27, 2022, following a trade with Racing Louisville FC. The 22-year-old finished with 36 appearances, scoring 11 goals for the team in all competitions. She scored nine goals for the team in 2022 to help the team make its first NWSL playoff appearance in club history.
"I’ve really enjoyed my time in Houston, a city and a club that gave me an opportunity to do what I enjoy most,” Salmon said. “To everyone involved with the club, thank you for making me feel so welcome from the beginning and for the continued support throughout my time here. I wish the Dash the best of luck in the future.”
The forward earned weekly and monthly league honors as a member of the team. Her time in Houston included a return to the England Women’s National Team in Aug. 2022 for a pair of qualifiers for the 2023 FIFA World Cup.
The Dash return to league play on Sept. 15 to start a two-game road trip against Louisville. The team returns to Shell Energy Stadium on Oct. 8 to host Angel City FC in the final home game of the regular season.
