The Houston Dash will face Seattle Reign FC at 9 p.m. CT on Saturday at Memorial Stadium in their first road game of the year. This is the eighth encounter between both clubs with Seattle holding a perfect record against the Texas side.
Houston will try to build on their 2-0 victory last week over the Chicago Red Stars and claim its first victory on the road this year. The Dash have lost all four encounters at Memorial Stadium including a 1-0 defeat last June.
Houston forward Kealia Ohai looks to build on her performance from last week where she scored the first goal of the NWSL regular season. The forward will join Rachel Daly who garnered national attention after her second-half goal in Houston’s 2-0 victory last Saturday, including the NWSL Goal of the Week award. Defensively, Houston’s backline now features Camille Levin who was acquired from the Orlando Pride earlier this week for a third round draft pick in the 2018 NWSL College Draft.
Seattle’s attacking core is led by Megan Rapinoe, Nahomi “Naho” Kawasumi, Beverly Yanez who have found the back of the net against Houston. Yanez scored the decisive goal in the last encounter between both clubs at Memorial Stadium. Defensively, the Reign feature Rachel Corsie and the NWSL Player of the Week in Haley Kopmeyer who made eight saves last week in Seattle’s 1-1 draw with Sky Blue FC.
The Dash will continue their road trip next week when they visit the Washington Spirit at the Maryland SoccerPlex.
