The Houston Dash will return to the Pacific Northwest on Tuesday to face Seattle Reign FC in a midweek clash with major playoff implications for both squads.
This is the second game in a stretch of three games in nine days that began with a 4-0 victory over the Washington Spirit at BBVA Compass Stadium last Friday. Sofia Huerta scored her first brace for the club in the victory and matched her career high for goals scored in a season with seven. The midfielder has scored four goals and tallied three assists for Houston after joining the club on June 18 in a trade with the Chicago Red Stars.
Kealia Ohai scored her fifth goal of the season off of Rachel Daly’s first assist of the season and the first of two on the night for Daly. With the two assists, Daly has now contributed to 11 of Houston’s 29 goals this season. Kyah Simon scored the final goal of the evening and her second of the year. Defensively, Jane Campbell earned her third clean sheet of the year to match her career-high set during her rookie campaign in 2017.
This is the third and final contest between both clubs this season after each side picked up three points at home in the previous encounters. Houston enters this meeting just two points shy of the final playoff spot with three games to go.
Seattle can secure their spot in the postseason with a victory or a draw and some help from other teams around the league. The Reign enter the match with a 6-1-3 record at Memorial Stadium and a four-game unbeaten streak after a scoreless draw with Chicago last Wednesday.
Houston will return to BBVA Compass Stadium on Saturday for their final regular season home game as they host Carli Lloyd and Sky Blue FC for Fan Appreciation night presented by BBVA Compass. Tickets for the match start at $19 and are available able at HoustonDashSoccer.com.
