The Houston Dynamo, Dash and BBVA Compass Stadium were given the Environmental Innovators of the Year Award in the MLS category by the Green Sports Alliance during the Green Sports Celebration held at BBVA Compass Stadium on Wednesday night.
The award, handed out to seven total teams and organizations, recognizes Green Sports Alliance member teams, venues, events or universities for their excellence in advancing the sports greening movement. BBVA Compass Stadium general manager Paul Byrne accepted the prize, an FSC-certified wood award sourced from the 2016 Houston NCAA Final Four Championship Court, on behalf of the organization.
The Green Sports Alliance is a collection of more than 300 sports teams and venues from 20 different sports leagues and 14 countries who exchange information about better practices and develop solutions to their environmental challenges to perform sporting events in an environmentally sensitive manner.
