The Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash invite all of their fans and the whole Houston community to join in an EaDo Block Party on Saturday, April 15 around BBVA Compass Stadium.
The Dash and Dynamo will play their first-ever doubleheader, with the Dash opening their 2017 NWSL campaign against the Chicago Red Stars at 1 p.m. CDT and the Dynamo hosting Minnesota United FC at 7:30 p.m. The club encourages fans to make a day of it in EaDo, enjoying two great soccer games and taking advantage of the time between the games to enjoy all that EaDo has to offer.
The Dash and Dynamo will hold an extended party on Orange Avenue between the games, with festivities starting at 2:30 p.m. CDT and continuing through kickoff of the Dynamo game at 7:30. The Bud Light Beer Garden will be open with ice-cold beers, hot music, games on the big screen and yard games.
The EaDo Block Party is free and open to everyone, and extends well beyond the gates of BBVA Compass Stadium.
Several local businesses are planning special offers and activities throughout the afternoon. Lucky’s Pub is hosting a crawfish boil all afternoon, with crawfish available for $5 per pound or five pounds for $20.
The Dash and Dynamo have several ticket options available for fans interested in coming out to join in on the festivities. A Doubleheader Bundle includes tickets to both games starting at just $30. Fans can also pick up a Bud Light Beer Garden pack for the Dash game, starting at $20, that includes a ticket to the game and two postgame beers in the Beer Garden. A Dynamo Beer Garden pack includes two pregame beers and a ticket to the Dynamo-Minnesota match for $36.
The Dash are entering their fourth season in the National Women’s Soccer League and are led on the field by U.S. Women’s National Team players Morgan Brian, Kealia Ohai and Jane Campbell. Two-time FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year Carli Lloyd is expected to rejoin the Dash mid-summer after competing with the Manchester City Women for the UEFA Champions League title. Ohai tied for the league lead in goals a year ago and returns as the Dash captain, looking to lead the team to its first playoff berth in club history.
The Dynamo are off to a tremendous start in 2017, with a 3-1-0 mark through their first four games, with all three wins coming at BBVA Compass Stadium. Forward Erick Torres leads all MLS players with six goals through four games, while midfielder Alex is tied for the league lead with four assists. The Dynamo have outscored their opponents 9-3 at home this year, including a 4-1 rout of the New York Red Bulls in their most recent home game on April 1.
