The Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash have announced that they have partnered with the South Texas Youth Soccer Association (STYSA) to create a new youth soccer league.
The league, named the “Dynamo/Dash League,” begins its fall season this weekend at Houston Sports Park and other parks throughout the Houston area. More than 200 teams from 31 different youth soccer clubs have joined the league. Over 3,000 players will compete in over 800 games during the league’s inaugural season.
Besides the Houston Sports Park, games will be played at Meyer Park, Eldridge Park, El Franco Lee Park, Baytown Soccer Complex, Bear Creek Park, and Veterans Park (College Station)
“With the landscape of youth soccer rapidly changing in the marketplace, we aspire to take a greater leadership role in positively developing the game throughout our region,” said Dynamo/Dash president Chris Canetti. “STYSA will take the lead in running the league, while the Dynamo and Dash deliver assets to give young players access to a wider array of developmental opportunities and experiences.”
“STYSA welcomes the opportunity to partner with the Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash organizations to offer the Dynamo/Dash League to STYSA players in the Greater Houston and surrounding areas,” said STYSA president Chris Delay. “In addition to offering a competitive playing league to our members, we are focused on enhancing our existing coaching development program and creating a health and wellness program as benefits of the partnership.
The league will offer playing opportunities for competitive teams. It will include boys teams ranging from Under-11 to Under-18 and girls teams from Under-12 to Under-18. STYSA will manage all competition guidelines and regulations.
Every player in the league will receive a regular-season ticket to a Dynamo or Dash game. Additionally, teams will be recognized at Dynamo and Dash games at BBVA Compass Stadium during the MLS and NWSL seasons. Players from the Dynamo and Dash teams will make appearances at league games and other league events and age-specific boys and girls all-star games for the top players within the league will be hosted by the Dynamo and Dash.
League members will also benefit from coaching education programs offered through the Dynamo and Dash along with health and wellness programs available through their partner, Houston Methodist.
