The Houston Dash held Utah Royals FC to a scoreless draw in their first meeting at BBVA Compass Stadium this evening.
Jane Campbell finished with five saves and her first clean sheet of the season. The goalkeeper’s first save of the game came in 28th minute when Campbell denied Gunny Jonsdottir’s free kick after her shot was dropping towards the inside of the crossbar close to the near post.
Kimberly Keever had Houston’s best opportunity in the of the first half when she made contact with a cross from Linda Motlhalo in first half stoppage time, but her shot was off target.
Campbell kept Utah off the score sheet again as she denied Brook Elby’s shot from the edge of the box in the 66th minute by punching the ball out of play.
Five minutes later, the goalkeeper came off her line to deny Jonsdottir from close range. The rebound fell to Erika Tymrak, but her shot was off target.
Houston returns to league action on April 18 as they travel to Illinois to face the Chicago Red Stars. The Dash return to BBVA Compass Stadium on April 28 as they host the North Carolina Courage.
Campbell, Sauerbrunn and the U.S. Women's National Team will return to Houston on April 8 as they face Bianca Henninger and Mexico in a friendly at BBVA Compass Stadium. Tickets are available at BBVACompassStadium.com.
