The NWSL announced earlier today that Houston Dash goalkeeper Jane Campbell was named to the 2023 Best XI First Team, presented by Mastercard.
Campbell becomes the second Dash player in team history to earn the honor joining Kealia Ohai Watt, who was named to the Best XI in 2016. Five Dash players have been named to the Best XI second team, including former Dash forward Ebony Salmon who earned the honor in 2022.
The shot stopper was also named a finalist for the 2023 NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year award. The results will be announced later this week leading up to the NWSL Championship game on Saturday, Nov. 11.
Campbell also earned Best XI monthly honors for September and October to close the regular season. Campbell recorded 37 saves and two shutouts across five matches during the two-month stretch. The goalkeeper made at least six saves in all five matches, including a nine-save performance against San Diego Wave FC on Sept. 3.
The Stanford product played every minute of the 2023 campaign, becoming just the second goalkeeper in league history to record three ironwoman seasons and the first to do so with one club.
