Looking into the Houston Dash 2020 schedule

Yesterday, the Houston Dash announced the full schedule for the 2020 season. As they enter their seventh season in the National Women’s Soccer League, the Dash are looking at a very competitive and busy schedule.

Starting off the season against NWSL Champions

With nine teams in the league, someone is going to be on a bye every week, and the Dash drew the short straw in Week One. That means that the team will have to wait just a week longer than everyone else in the league to start playing. They open the 2020 season by hosting the defending NWSL Champions, the North Carolina Courage, at BBVA Stadium on April 25.

“It gives an opportunity to be able to watch them play, but I think we’ve got a good idea of what they’re like,” head coach James Clarkson said at yesterday’s press conference. “So, it’s a tough opening schedule for us, but it’s one that we’re excited about. We like the challenge.”

Doubleheader with the Dynamo

On May 3, the Dash have a doubleheader with the Houston Dynamo at BBVA Stadium. The Dynamo will host the San Jose Earthquakes at 3 pm. The Dash take the field after at 7 pm, hosting Sky Blue FC. It’ll be the first time that both teams have played home matches in league play on the same day. There was one previous doubleheader on June 28, 2017, when a Dynamo U.S. Open Cup match was added to the schedule and fell on the same day as a Dash match. Be on the lookout for information regarding tickets for the Dynamo-Dash doubleheader coming soon.

Plenty of action in May

The Dash dive headfirst into all the NWSL action during the month of May, where they are set to play six games throughout the month. This includes three games in six days, when they play at Sky Blue FC on May 24, travel to the Orlando Pride on May 27 and then finish the week at home against the North Carolina Courage on May 30.

Finishing 2020 on the road

The Houston Dash finish their home campaign on October 9 against the Portland Thorns. They wrap up the season the following week on October 17 when they travel on the road to face the North Carolina Courage.
