Houston Dynamo and Dash fans now have a convenient and free way to get to and from BBVA Compass Stadium on game days, courtesy of Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO). By simply showing their match ticket or Season Ticket Member card on match day, fans can ride METRORail to the stadium free of charge.
The offer will begin with Saturday’s Dynamo home match vs. D.C. United at 7:45 p.m. and Sunday’s Dash match vs. FC Kansas City at 7:30 p.m., and will be valid for every Dynamo and Dash game for the remainder of the season.
“Taking mass transit to major events gives you freedom. More and more folks are beginning to see that using METRO frees them from sitting in traffic,” said METRO President and CEO Tom Lambert. “It frees them from searching and paying for parking. Beginning today, Dynamo and Dash ticket holders can enjoy this freedom and arrive at the doorstep of BBVA Compass Stadium for free!"
METRORail consists of three light-rail lines: the Red Line (North), Green Line (East End) and the Purple Line (Southeast), totaling 23 miles of rail which pass through or near the Texas Medical Center and Rice University (Red Line South); the University of Houston and Texas Southern University and the Third Ward (Purple Line); Downtown and The Heights (Red Line North) and EaDo and the East End (Green Line).
The Green Line and the Purple Line each serve the EaDo/Stadium station, located on Texas Ave. between St. Emanuel St. and Bastrop St., directly adjacent to BBVA Compass Stadium. The Red Line intersects with each of the other two at the Central Station on Main St. in Downtown.
This extensive reach allows Dynamo and Dash fans to reach BBVA Compass Stadium by rail from nearly anywhere inside the Loop and also provides a number of convenient park-and-ride options for fans who want to avoid Downtown traffic.
The Dynamo’s home game on Saturday evening is Star Wars Night, with characters from the immensely popular Lucas Films and Disney movie franchise scheduled to appear throughout the evening along with Star Wars-themed entertainment throughout.
The Dash host FC Kansas City on Father’s Day, and Sunday is, appropriately, Dads and Daughters Night. A special ticket package for the game offers a pair of tickets along with a postgame photo on the pitch for $40. Moms and sons are always welcome, too!
