Midfielder Sophie Schmidt and forward Nichelle Prince are set to join the Canadian Women’s National Team for their upcoming camp in Brazil where they will face the home country on November 11 and November 15. Prince and Schmidt recently led the team to their first trip to the NWSL playoffs and the Dash finished with a franchise best 10-6-6 record in the regular season.
Schmidt has 216 caps for Canada earning 192 starts throughout her illustrious national team career. The midfielder is only the third player in federation history to score a goal in three different decades. Schmidt was the first player to score for the Houston Dash in the postseason as she tallied the equalizer on Oct. 16. Earlier this month, the midfielder signed a two-year contract extension to remain with the Club through the 2024 season.
Prince is set to join Canada and Schmidt for the trip to South America. Prince forced an error in the second half of Houston’s match against the Washington Spirit in the regular season finale to give Houston the 2-1 advantage. Prince forced an own goal that proved to be the deciding tally for Houston’s 10th regular season win and helped the Dash secure a home match in the NWSL playoffs.
