The Houston Dash invite their fans and the entire Houston community to join the team in celebrating its NWSL Challenge Cup title with a Drive-Thru Celebration on Thursday afternoon at BBVA Stadium. The free event will take place from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on the south end of the stadium, near the intersection of Walker St. and Emancipation Ave.
In a twist on the traditional championship parade necessitated by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Dash players and coaches, all of whom have undergone a rigorous testing protocol throughout the Challenge Cup, will gather together on a stage in the parking lot south of BBVA Stadium while fans drive by, enabling everyone to maintain a safe distance and ensure that local and state health protocols are followed.
Fans are encouraged to decorate signs, banners, flags and their cars to celebrate the team’s first league championship as they drive by the players. The Club will give away free NWSL Challenge Cup Champions posters to the first 1,000 fans; and Coushatta Casino Resort, a proud partner of the Dash, will hand out commemorative poker chips to the first 1,000 fans.
Fans will be required to wear masks, and must stay in their cars.
Soccer 4 All, who have teamed with the Dash to operate the team’s official online store, shop.houstondash.com, will be on-site to sell NWSL Challenge Cup Champions t-shirts. Soccer 4 All will only accept contactless payments (i.e. Apple Pay, Google Pay) and credit cards in order to minimize physical contact.
